A couple of existing planters will be planted with the homeowner's choice of herbs.

A new xeric, cottage garden will grace the once-unused area and will provide a profusion of color for the homeowner to view out their house windows, or from their expanded side patio. It will also attract lots of birds and pollinators to the yard, which is exciting for the bird-enthusiasts. A casual flagstone and gravel path winds through the garden for a slow stroll to view and smell the flowers. The planting berm adds just enough height to add some dimensionthe the garden bed.

Colorful plantings surround the flowering ornamental trees in the center of the view, and fall-color shrubs and evergreen shrubs anchor either corner. A row of tall, evergreen trees provides visual screening from the neighbors' patio.
Re-design long backyard to divide into various useful spaces, including a large raised garden area and pollinator garden and path. The existing patio is extended to provide more seating space and stairs are added to provide access to a lower area in the corner, which is the new kids play zone. This spacious area under the evergreen trees has room for jumping logs, a swing set and an archery area. Beautiful shady flowers and shrubs surrounded the seating area around the patio and dinding table.
Full landscape design for an entire lot with shady front yard and hot, sunny backyard. The front yard design includes turf reduction with the addition of a dry river bed on one side and a xeric planting area on the other. Access to the backyard was improved with the addition of stairs and terraced planting areas. A wild, unkempt backyard now includes a winding path through a field of flowering trees, xeric grasses, and perennials that are low-maintenace. Bands of river rock help define the various planting areas. Existing native trees and shrubs fill out the back of the lot and provide sound protection from a busy street.
Full landscape design for corner lot. Includes relaxing fountain area and pollinator garden in the front yard to be enjoyed by visitors and friends, and a lush underplanting of shady flowers under the large spruce trees. In the backyard, the patio is extended to create more room for seating, a fire pit and place for the porch swing to enjoy the view of the mountains. The steeply sloped side yard has become a tranquil terraced area with xeric shrubs and groundcover underneath the existing shade trees. An informal gravel and flagstone area with tree stumps and log table provides a naturalized play area for the occasional visit from the grandkids.
Re-design of a residential lot includes a complete re-working of the front yard. A small paver patio sits near the front door to greet guests with a half-wall for privacy. A dry river bed meanders through the space with a variety of shrubs and colorful flowers to soften the German-style shmear brickwork style. A grouping of fruit trees added to the large yard will provide an abundance of fruit in the summer & fall, and also provide screening for the kids playing in the backyard.
